Information from September 2021

Updated:  16.11.21

We are grateful for the ongoing support of our parents, carers and families in supporting strategies to mitigate the risk of COVID infection in our school.

The guidance now states that primary aged children do not need to isolate if someone at home has tested positive for Covid.  Due to the increasing number of positive Lateral Flow tests for our children, we are asking parents and carers to be extra cautious, and if in doubt keep children away from school for a few days when someone at home has had a positive Lateral Flow or PCR result.  We feel that this approach will give us the best chance of reducing infections in our school.

For children testing positive, we have found recently that, if they feel unwell, this is a good few days before they positive test results, and also that several children with positive results have not been unwell or shown symptoms at all.

We strongly recommend that Lateral Flow Tests are regularly used (twice weekly as a minimum, and more often if your child has cases of COVID within their class).  This protects not only our school, but also your family.

We are aware that, at this time of year, many children have coughs and colds that will not be COVID.  However, if we are to keep our school infection free, we do need to be sure, so any child who is unwell or showing symptoms will be asked to take a test.

If children do need to be self-isolating at home, then teachers will email information on work to be completed.  This will all be online, and will not need to be returned to school for marking.

Teachers will send you:

* A copy of the curriculum summary for the term.

* A website link for Maths and English linked to the learning that will be missed for the period of isolation.

* A reminder to read regularly - books/Myon.

* Links to website/s for activities linked to current learning.

* Links to website/s for number bonds / times tables.

* Links to website/s for phonics and/or spellings.

For information on COVID, please see here:

An updated Risk Assessment is available on the Home Page of the school website (saved as a document at the bottom of the page).

Staff will continue to Rapid Test twice weekly, which will be reviewed by the government at the appropriate time.

·         There is no longer a requirement for children in school to socially distance or to maintain their bubbles.  However, adult social distancing is recommended on our site, so posters remain in place as a reminder, and we would welcome this to support keeping local infections down.  Face masks are also welcome for those that wish to wear them.

·         Adult visitors into the school building will be minimised as far as possible, and for those coming into school face-masks will be required.

·         Please communicate by email or telephone where possible, and if visiting the school office, please maintain just one person in the foyer at any one time.  The use of a mask is recommended.

·         In line with the guidance from Gloucestershire County Council, children will continue to wash hands on entry to school, before break if eating, and before lunch. Children should also wash their hands as soon as they arrive home from school.

·         Children will have regular reminders of hand and respiratory hygiene, and posters will continue to be displayed around school.   This will be reviewed at October half term, or when any guidance update is received.

·         All our classrooms have windows and doors that enable natural ventilation, and we also make wide use of the outdoors so please ensure your child has a coat in school every day.   We will also maintain mid-day cleaning of high-traffic areas.
