The Role of Parent Governor

Information for Parent Governor Election - 7th September 2017

Dear Parent / Guardian

We have a vacancy for a parent governor. We are seeking nominations and if necessary (ie more we have nominees than vacancies) will hold elections at the start of the Autumn term .  Parent governors are elected by and from the parents of children currently attending our school.  They serve a four-year term of office and bring a very important and valued perspective to the work of the governing body.

Further information on the role can be obtained by downloading the information attached at the bottom of this page www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/schoolsnet/governors .

The governing body has a vital role to play in making sure all our children receive the best possible education. This is achieved by ensuring that governors have the necessary skills and commitment to contribute to the effective governance and success of the school.  Although we are looking for particular skills across the governing body it is more important that our parent governors have; a keen interest in pursuing excellence in education, to lay the foundations for all our children to become “successful learners, confident individuals & responsible citizens” achieving their full potential in life, and, have  personal qualities and capabilities, such as the capacity and willingness to learn and work as part of a team.  It is expected that governors will make use of the various training opportunities available to them and play a full part in the work of the governing body.

If you are interested in becoming a governor, please complete the nomination form (below) and return it to the school office (self nomination is acceptable), by 12.00 noon on Friday 21st September 2017.

Note that self nomination is acceptable and if there are more nominations than vacancies, an election will be held and you will be sent a voting paper.

We hope that you will consider joining us in this important role to support the work of our wonderful school.

Chair of Governors - Mr Kevin James
